Lifestyle Holidays Vacation Club - Samana,
Dominican Republic

The village El Limon Moron on the peninsula Samana offers a unique natural landscape. The resort 'Lifestyle Holidays Vacation Club' at Samana is designed to demonstrate a soft tourism.
Aspects of the surrounding ecology, as well as alternative use of energy and architectural design define the foreground of this project.
The distinctiveness of the Samana landscape is displayed in the topography. The various hills, valleys, as well as beaches which alter from sandy to cliffy, and  the vast vegetation all speak for the diverse nature of the surrounding landscape.
A key component of the existing landscape, aside from the sea, is the array of mangrove woods. This essential piece of landscape will be used to add to the placement of artificial gardens and parks. The typology of the buildings are adapted to that of the existing landscape. Special gardens, garden terraces and other distinct architectural designs determine the architecture. The structural buildings of 'Lifestyle Holidays Vacation Club' at Samana are subtly integrated into this concept of design.

Traffic and Transport
The entrance road protrudes all the way to the lobby building. At this spot a parking deck for the arriving cars will be built. The lot itself will only be traveled on by small hybrid cars, with the exception of delivery and company vehicles.

People Mover
A cable car will connect the entry lobby to the apartment resorts on both hills.

Reception building and Suite Hotel 'Hanging Gardens'
The reception building is divided into the levels of lobby including an office and back office, a restaurant and bar.
Beneath these levels the rooms are used for delivery for the kitchen business, as well as a stocking of items. The lowest level, namely the basement, which is elevated at ca. 6.5 feet above sea level, is to be used for a park deck for approaching vehicles.
The building proceeds in a slow ascending, accessible level out of the soft hills alongside and out to the beach. The level offers greenery and lounging spots. The park deck and secondary rooms are situated beneath this level. The only element which is visible is the entry and restaurant area. As a result of this design which is adapted to the natural topography of the landscape, the building offers a natural and subtle flow to the surrounding.
At a right angle adjacent to the reception building, greenery paths will be developed, the so called 'Hanging Gardens', the space in front of which will be used to build a three-story suite hotel. The free space facing the mangroves on the other hand will be used for offices, spas and fitness areas, as well as offer a secluded area for leisure activities.

Apartments on the Hill
The first hill which arises from behind the mangroves presents the base of an apartment complex. These buildings will be three-storied and nestled to both sides of the descending hills in such a way that its cubature remains subtle in appearance. The apartment complex, which is partially hidden behind the trees, appear to be at most two-storied. The flat pent roofs will be covered in greenery.
The facility between the buildings will be fitted with spacious gardens, which will have the appearance of a green wave. In its valley the lower apartments are accessible. The entrance areas to the upper apartments are accessible via the crest of the green wave.

Terrace Gardens
In addition, the second hill will be cropped with apartments. Patios will follow the natural flow of the descending hill. This terraced garden landscape is designed as an architectural composition. The one to two-storied apartment buildings will be subtly integrated into the existing landscape.

Sky Garden
At the foot of the hill, atrium buildings are planned to emerge. The design of which will resemble a 'wave' that naturally flows through the topography of the landscape.
Some of the atrium buildings will be carried by this 'wave', others will form the roof thereof. This so-called 'wave' will be accessible, planted with greenery and follow the conceptual design of free and open space. The atrium buildings will be one to two-storied and will also include a private garden for each house.

Villas
In addition, 33 villas with private gardens will be erected on the peninsula Samana.
